Jeanne Sauvé Awards Program

Jeanne Sauvé French Immersion Public School rewards the efforts of its students in a number of different ways throughout the academic year, at grade 8 graduation and at the closing assembly in June.

THROUGHOUT THE ACADEMIC YEAR: (pre-covid)

MONTHLY AWARDS
At each monthly awards assembly, students from each class will be acknowledged in the following areas:-
Academic Success - to a student who has experienced a significant academic-related success during the month
Citizenship - to a student who, throughout the month, exemplified one of the six Jeanne Sauvé core values (Communauté, Excellence, Responsabilité; Collaboration, Intégrité, Respect)
Français - to a student who regularly uses français throughout the day

ACADEMIC PROGRAM - GRADES 4 - 8

Improvement
Students in grades 4 – 8 who achieve an overall academic average improvement of 2% or greater from term 1 to term 2 will be presented with a certificate highlighting their achievement.
Honours
In any given term, students in grades 4 to 8 who receive an overall academic average of 80% or over will be presented with a certificate highlighting their achievement.

GRADE 8 GRADUATION AWARDS:

Subject Awards (Language, French, Mathematics, Science and Technology, History, Geography, Health & Physical Education, Visual Arts, Music, Dance and Drama)
Awarded to the student who demonstrates excellence and a natural aptitude and/or enthusiasm for the particular subject area.

Honours
Students in grade 8 who receive an overall academic average of 80% or over will be presented with a certificate highlighting their achievement.

DSBN Scholar's Award
Awarded to students in grade 8 who receive an overall average of 85% or over.

Academic Improvement Award
Awarded to the student who achieves the greatest academic improvement during his/her grade 8 year.

Highest Academic Standing
Awarded to the student who achieves the top academic standing in grade 8.

Athletic Award
Awarded to one or more athletes who have demonstrated outstanding athletic ability and who have participated in the majority of sports offered.

Excellence in Athletics Award
Awarded to one or more athletes who have demonstrated outstanding athletic ability and have also demonstrated coachability, respect, sportsmanship and team spirit.

Highest Academic Standing
Awarded to the student who achieves the top academic standing in grade 8.

DSBN Student Success Award
Awarded to a grade 8 student who has been accepted into the Applied Stream or Specialized School to Work Program and who has demonstrated persistence, diligence, and dedication and has succeeded in meeting his/her academic goals.

Ontario Principal's Council (OPC) Award for Student Leadership
Awarded to the grade 8 student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership within the school setting.

DSBN Excellence in Education Award
Awarded to the grade 8 student who has demonstrated a combination of excellence in citizenship, leadership, participation and academic achievement.

Dedication to Learning Award
Awarded to the grade 8 student who has taken responsibility for his/her success as a learner and has experienced remarkable growth.

Jeanne Sauvé French Immersion Award
Awarded to the grade 8 student who has embraced the French language and culture and has committed to continuing their studies in a French Immersion program.

Citizenship Award
Awarded to the grade 8 student who has exemplified the six Jeanne Sauvé core values (Communauté, Excellence, Responsabilité; Collaboration, Intégrité, Respect).

Valedictorian
Awarded to one or two students who are a good representative of the entire grade. He/She/They should possess good communication skills, be well-respected by peers, possess a positive attitude and display good citizenship qualities.
